The Sixteen’s Choral Pilgrimage 2019 - Blackburn M

The Sixteen is delighted to invite the Blackburn People’s Choir to our Choral Pilgrimage 2019 concert on Saturday 21 September at Blackburn Cathedral.

Our 2019 Choral Pilgrimage brings together music past and present, highlighting The Sixteen’s choral journey over the last 40 years. Our close relationship with Sir James MacMillan continues with a new commission O virgo prudentissima, contrasted with music by Fayrfax performed on our very first recording, alongside music by Wylkynson and Sheppard. These fine examples of English polyphony are juxtaposed with stunning music by Tavener and Eric Whitacre in our 40th anniversary year.

Singing for Fun

Come and join the main choir for a day of singing in support of Methodist Action North West.  Our musical director Jeff Borradaile will be leading an afternoon workshop which is open to anyone who wants to have a fun day and willing to 'have a go'.  The choir will then be performing an evening concert, joined by the workshop singers to show the fruits of their afternoon.

Workshop 2.15 - 5.30pm.  Concert starts at 7.30pm.

Christmas Concert

Our Christmas concert takes place on Wednesday 19th December at Holy Trinity Church.  A rare opportunity to see all 4 of our choirs performing on the same night.  We will also joined by the Accrington Pipe Band.  What better way to head into Christmas?

Prague Advent Choral Meeting 2018

Members of Blackburn People Choir plus four friends from Ordsall Acapella Singers were honoured to take part in this years Prague Advent festival. Choirs from Austria, Finland, Germany, Portugal & Switzerland participated.

The programme over the weekend of the 30/11- 2/12 included two concerts held at St Nicholas Church  and St Martin in the Wall church both to be found in the iconic Old Town. We also had busking opportunities on Charles Bridge, Wenceslas square Christmas markets to name but a few..Plus we participated in an advent mass at Wenceslas Church Zderas a particularly cold church populated with warm welcoming ...

About Us

A community choir based in Blackburn, Lancashire. We welcome anyone who simply enjoys singing.

We are an enthusiastic group of around 95 members of all ages. Under the leadership of our inspirational musical director, Jeff Borradaile, we sing an exciting range of songs, all a cappella. No audition! We perform to a high standard at events throughout the year, and welcome experienced singers to become involved and encourage those who may be new to choral singing.

We meet every Thursday, 7.00 pm – 9.30 pm.
